Graduate Spotlight Laila Nader

Having recently completed the Certificate III and IV in Fitness, we thought it would be a great idea to ask mother of three, Laila some questions about her journey, experiences whilst studying and future plans!

What drew you to the industry?

I love fitness and I realised it’s the industry for me after having my kids in sports and being part of it, helping out with teams, training and so on.

This made me want to help kids and their mothers who are struggling to do any sort of fitness to become more active.

How did you manage your studies?

My husband, my kids and my fitness motivated me to continue studying. Being a mother of three, I found the best time for myself to study was in the evenings. My kids would be asleep and I was able to focus.

I recommend picking the best time of the day for you – where you can be in your own zone and focus. Let it be your time and about what you love to do and enjoy it.

I used to look forward to my evening studying as I love fitness and loved learning more about it.

One of the things I enjoyed most about my course was the prac work – working in a gym with personal trainers and clients, training people and interacting with others was an enjoyable experience.

What keeps you motivated?

I want to be able to help ladies and kids to be fit, active, healthy, achieve their goals and be happy. Being fit and healthy was getting me compliments from ladies and this made me want to help them look and feel good about themselves – both physically and mentally.

Now I am officially a personal trainer, I feel so proud I have accomplished my goal.

I have now started training ladies and doing boot camps for kids and love every minute of it!

Doing this course was the best thing I have ever done!

What advice do you give to others wishing to study fitness?

Don’t give up – hard work pays off and one day you will thank yourself for not giving up!

Patience is the key to achievement and success.

NEVER say “I wish” or “it’s too late”. No matter where you are in life or how old you are, don’t let anything or anyone stop you from achieving what you love most!

Once you start, you will thank yourself for not giving up – it is the most rewarding feeling knowing you have accomplished your goal!

My favourite quotes are:

  • Don’t limit your challenges, challenge your limit!
  • If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you!
  • Consistency, dedication, commitment and patience will get you to your goal.

Thanks so much Laila, we wish you all the best on your fitness journey!
