My name is Dean Gilbert, I am 22 years old and thanks to the Fitness Institute, I am now a qualified personal trainer. My journey started in January of 2016 where a work colleague, who ran a boot camp outside of our core working hours, inspired me to want to do something a little different. Being in the military I knew I would find it hard to complete my fitness certificates whilst also maintaining a full-time job but after speaking with Fitness Institute I felt as though I would definitely be able to achieve this goal.
They offered me a great deal of support and advice and were flexible in allowing me a full 12 months to complete the course while I shifted around Australia with the military. I eventually started work experience with a gym at one of the bases I was working at with the qualified Physical Training Instructor staff and was given a great deal of support in the initial stages of my training.
After seeking further advice from Philip at Fitness Institute I decided to look to broaden my experiences and started working in different boot camps, outdoor fitness classes, and aquatic classes around Sydney. Eventually I met Dani Carr, owner of Dynamic Core Personal Training (DCPT) within Anytime Fitness Northbridge and Surry Hills (part owner). Dani completely changed my perspective on the Fitness Industry and showed me not only how to properly train and retain clients but also how to successfully run a business. I found it easy to liaise with Dani and FitnessInstitute and the rest of my course was a breeze.
The best part about the course was that it was challenging, motivating, flexible but most importantly it was fun and has completely changed the way I train, think and talk about fitness. I look forward to the challenges ahead.
Thank you Fitness Institute and thank you Dynamic Core Personal Training.
