Our comprehensive online personal trainer course is self-paced, meaning you can structure your learning around your busy life without any assessment deadlines and you can finish as quickly as you like. All learning material and assessments are available to you from the day you’re enrolled – No annoying waiting on assessments to progress through your course.
Combined with being a fully accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO), our course is nationally and internationally recognised, so you can travel the world and take your qualifications with you!
Students will also be qualified to register as an Exercise Professional with organisations like peak industry body, AUSactive.

Course REQUIREMENTS
There are no official entry requirements to the Certificate III in Fitness, however Fitness Institute will require the following for our course:
- A small level of familiarity with gyms.
- Desktop or laptop computer.
- Computer literacy
- Able to process word documents, spreadsheets and presentation files.
- Able to send emails and attach documents or link to web files.
- Able to take pictures and videos on smartphones, edit and upload to the web.
- Year 10 or equivalent completed. Year 11 minimum if in school (note 18 + is recommended).
- Ability to participate in physical activity or work out a suitable plan with your mentor (if injured).
- Commercial gym membership and access to be able to complete your practicals and experience different group fitness classes.
- A mentor with at least a Certificate IV in Fitness and relevant experience (you may use multiple mentors if you like).

- AUSactive are now offering free Student Insurance, (if insurance is not currently held), and a requirement for a USI number.

How long do I have to complete the course?
You’ll have a generous 12 months to complete the Combo Cert III and Cert IV in Fitness qualifications.
How quickly can I complete the course?
Our course is designed to be flexible and self-paced. We understand that life gets busy and many students are also working full-time while studying. Accordingly, our Certificate 3 and 4 in fitness online course has been designed to accommodate a range of study needs.
Depending on your dedication and prior experience, completion can range from 18 to 50 weeks.
Most full-time working students finish in 20 to 30 weeks with around 8-12 hours of study per week. Part-time working students generally complete the course faster.
Will a Certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness help me start my own business?

How much practical work is required at a fitness facility?
You’ll need to complete approximately 40-45 hours of practical work, with individual sessions typically lasting 30 to 45 minutes each and group sessions 45 to 60 minutes.
Your mentor will guide you, and provide a mix of direct and indirect supervision with feedback for your continual improvement.

What if I can't find a gym and a mentor?
I'm worried that I won't find the motivation to complete my work.
We have created a VIP Support program, that is designed for students to stay on track, get additional support & set weekly or fortnightly goals to finish the course faster.
Sessions are delivered by Google Meet (video conference) with one of our expert trainers.
Do I need to complete the PT Course in sequential order & wait for assessments to be marked before moving on?
While we recommend completing the course in order, you’ll have access to all materials upon enrollment. You can progress to further sections once items are submitted for grading. First aid certification (externally obtained) is required before training any clients.
Do I need a Working With Children Check (WWCC) to complete my PT Course?
You will need a WWCC if working with anyone 17 or younger. If you’re studying Certificate 3 & 4 in fitness in Australia, you can find out more about applying for a Working With Children check in your state on the ACIC website.
However if you can’t obtain a WWCC card, you can complete the course with adult-based scenarios. For more detailed information, please get in touch with the team at Fitness Institute.

Do you teach Nutrition in your PT Course?
Our course includes lectures from an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and covers healthy eating strategies within the scope of personal training.
