Round 2 applications are now open and eligible students can receive up to $13,000 towards vocational training.

What are the scholarships all about?

The Australian Government’s $585 million Skills Package, “Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow” is a Commonwealth program available to 400 young Australians and ex- Australian Defence Force personnel who have exited the ADF in the last 2 years.  

The aim of the program is to support Australians aged 15-24 and ex ADF personnel of any age to gain the critical employability skills found in Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications in order to help them to enter and stay in the workforce.

Eligible applicants can apply for a scholarship to undertake an approved course of study from Certificate III to Advanced Diploma levels.

Courses can be undertaken part-time or full-time and young Australian scholars will receive up to $5000 per year in study assistance.

As part of the scholarship, students are required to undertake a paid internship or work placement for 20 business days during which scholars will receive $3000 for paid internship work and host employers will receive $500 per intern.

Where is this program available?

Applicants must be residing in the following towns:

  • NSW – Grafton and Gosford
  • NT – Alice Springs
  • QLD – Maryborough and Townsville
  • SA – Port Pirie
  • TAS – Burnie
  • VIC – Shepparton
  • WA – Wanneroo and Armadale

Please note: In some of these regions boundaries have been extended.
